Robin Glassman did not believe in the separation of media. To her an idea that animated her at any given time was translated into the medium she picked up at that moment, fixing the though in space. Her mixed media assemblages attest to these fluid boundaries between sculpture, drawings, paintings and objects. Figures and faces stand out, but simultaenously they fully inhabit the overall formalistic outline of any given shape. A new breath of life is given to a frame, an ornament, a wooden stick or a profound red color of the background, but they do come together only through Robin’s highly idiosyncratic search for a coherent visual language.
